It is generally defined as a type of tourism that engages a person in physical, natural or cultural excursions that bring the individual outside his comfort zone. This broad idea is broken into two major subcategories of adventure tourism: hard adventure and soft adventure. Hard adventure tourism generally involves an element of physical danger or risk, whereas soft adventure tourism simply seeks to explore areas that are not typical for travelers, such as visiting relatively undeveloped destinations.

Trekking is a part of adventure travel, It involves visits to remote areas, lodging in tents and minimal accommodation. It is done for adventure and expedition.
White-water rafting is the activity of riding on a raft over rough, dangerous parts of a fast-flowing river.
Wildlife tourism means watching wild animals in their natural habitat. It is an important part of the tourism industries. It has experienced a dramatic and rapid growth in recent years world wide.

How To Reach ?
By Flight : Versay, Rafting in River Teesta, Jaldapara -The closest Airport is at Bagdogra. The Tiger's Nest- Druk Air , Bhutan 's airline operates flights to Paro from Bangkok , Kolkata, Dhaka , Kathmandu and New Delhi. Guwahati and Kaziranga- Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Corbet National Park- The closest domestic airport to Corbett National Park is 50 kms away from Corbett National Park at Phoolbagh, Pantnagar. At 295 Km from Corbett National Park - the nearest International Airport is at Delhi.
By Rail : Versay, Rafting in River Teesta, Jaldapara , Bhutan -the closest Railhead is at New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri which are connected to Calcutta ,New Delhi ,Guwahati and other major Indian cities. Corbett National Park- The closest railway station to Corbett National Park is Ramnagar, which is 12 km from the Park. The Ranikhet Express plies between Delhi and Ramnagar, departing from Delhi at 10.50 pm and arriving at 4.35 am the next day. The train from here for Delhi begins at 9.05 pm, reaching Delhi at 5 am the next day.
By Road : Okhrey -About 130 km from New Jalpaiguri station, it is connected with Jorethang by a regular jeep service and is just an hour’s drive away.Rafting in River Teesta- It is a road junction on Siliguri-Gangtok National Highway NH31A and the roads from Darjeeling and Kalimpong join NH31A near here. The national highway NH31 crosses Teesta River here. Jaldapara- is connected by National Highway with Siliguri and can be reached by car within 3hrs. Bhutan- Phuntsholing is four hours' drive from Bagdogra/NJP, the drive from Phuntsholing to Paro takes six hours. Kaziranga -Guwahati city / Railway Station is approx. 4 ½ hrs drive.Corbett National Park -most people prefer to drive down to Corbett National Park. It takes approximately six hours from Delhi.
Season

Versay:Mid March to Mid June and October to December. Tiger's Nest: March toMay and September to November. Jaldapara National Park except: 15th June to 15th September. Kaziranga National Park: 1st November to 30th April.Corbett National Park: November to 15th June.
