The name 'Keralam' or 'Kerala', as it was adopted by
the English language, comes from the Malayalam words
'Keram' meaning Coconut Palm and 'Alam' meaning Land
or Place. Keralam is therefore 'The Land of Coconut
Palm'. The state has 14 districts. |
